All Aboard!

Libby is very into making lines of things. Pillows, books, and here, chairs. Daddy got to be a passenger on this train.

Another Sarahism

I forgot one of my favorite Sarahisms. Whenever she is crying due to physical pain (no matter what the real cause) if you ask her what is wrong she says, "Libby bonked me." Even if Libby isn't even in the room. There is definitely no question as to why she has formed the association that playing with Libby equals pain of some kind--Libby loves to wrestle her, steal her toys, "accidentally" knock her down. But I saw Sarah start fighting back last week. I am interested to see how this all plays out. Sarah is definitely going to be bigger. Will Libby be meaner? Maybe they will just learn to get along?

Libbyisms/Sarahisms

Libby loves to run into the room and yell (and I mean yell, with hands on hips): "ARE YOU KIDDING ME!" This is usually unprovoked and hilarious, but I try really hard not to laugh.

She also loves to play a game with Sarah where she falls to the ground and yells "Help!" "Help!" Over and over. I have yet to see if Sarah actually helps her or she finally gives up yelling and gets up on her own. She won't let me help her. I wish she would not play this game outside so much. Someone is bound to call 911 eventually.

Sarah is LOVING media. Her two most popular quotes right now are:
"Read a book!" (then usually she mentions a title--her two favorites right now are Never Tease a Weasel (commonly referred to as Tease a Weasel) and It's Not Fair.)
and "Watch a Movie!" She has asked for "Seven" meaning Seven Brides for Seven Brothers. But often asks for "Two" or "Elmo" or "Nemo". Today I tried letting them watch The Parent Trap. Libby watched quite a bit. Sarah had no interest. She gets the most into media when she is teething or otherwise hurting. She is currently cutting a canine.

Peter Pan Syndrome

Libby just said to me, "C'mon Wendy, I'll show you the mermaids." I love it.

Reid and Libby

I haven't watched Reid for quite awhile, but I got the chance this morning. It was so fun.
Here are some of my favorite moments.

Reid actually asked me to tie the hat on.

He was also delighted that she was willing to share her binkie (and her bed too...)

First Slurpee of Summer

Almost everywhere that Derek and I have lived, we have been very near a 7-11. I actually haven't been there very often, considering this fact. Derek was gone this weekend, having a weekend with his buddies in San Fran. I cleaned out the garage. After I took a load to the thrift store, we stopped off so the girls could have their first Slurpee experience. They LOVED it!

"I Can't Sleep Mommy..."

Here are some of Libby's reasons that she couldn't go to sleep last night. She kept coming out of her room to tell me (since we have to leave the door open now so she can go potty in the night.)
1. "I have to barf in a bowl." (she uses this whenever I want her to do something she doesn't want to)
2. "I have a hair in my mouth."
3. "Sleeping Beauty's dress came off (because I took it off). Can you help?"
4. "The Big Bad Wolf, the ants, the monster...ramble, ramble..."

Finally I told her I had a headache (which she knows about since she tells me that her tummy has a headache quite often) and she left me alone.
It was luckily one of those nights when I could find these things funny. Last thing I remember hearing, she was playing around the house. When Derek's alarm went off at 2:30, I went to check on her and she was in bed.

Diaper Rash Beyond the Diapers

One reason I was so excited to potty train Libby (which, btw, worked for us! amazing!) was to end the diaper rash. Well, it turns out she still gets it. It is a little less obvious, but seriously painful. She refused to tinkle for about 15 hours, and was making us all crazy with her screaming. My doctors office finally recommended the ER so they could put in a catheder to relieve the pressure and test for a UTI. We got to the ER at Children's Hospital (major bad flashbacks for a minute). She said she needed to go, started crying and holding herself. The nurse brought me a cup so we could get a urine sample. I asked her if she would go in a cup. She said "no....yes!" So we went in the bathroom and boy did she let loose!!!! She could have filled 2 cups at least, but I didn't have 2, so she filled one and the bathroom floor. So, I guess just getting to the place where we have a 10 times higher copay helped her to let it go. In the end they perscribed hydrocortizone and the anti-fungal cream we already have. But, it was so cute to hear her say to the doctor, "Can you please help my bottom feel better!" So now, we don't wipe, we "pat, pat" and we put on diaper rash cream after she goes. Crazy business!

Sisters

Happy Mother's Day to me! What beautiful daughters I have! And my wonderful husband took the day off to suprise me! I woke up and he was still at home. Fabulous!

New Bed Success!

The girls have been enjoying their new beds...except yesterday morning when I went in to get Sarah and she wasn't in the bed. Finally I realized the crying was coming from under the bed. She was stuck. It was so funny...in a "I can't believe you did that" kind of way.

Libby's Testimony

Libby has taken a real interest in testimony meeting. She realized that people (even kids) were getting up to say things in the microphone. She decided she wanted to "tell" her testimony. I am so sad that I wasn't there for it (I had a yoga training). Derek took her up to the pulpit. She grabbed the microphone and said, "Hi, My name is Libby Norton." She proceeded to say how much she loved her sister, and "This guy, this guy's name is my Daddy (pointing to Derek)." Anyway, Derek said she would have rambled on and on if he hadn't stopped it. Apparently shyness and fear of public speaking aren't a problem for her.

New BEDS!

Well, actually Libby got the new bed, Sarah got the hand-me-down. This was all part of a ploy to get Libby to give up her binkie in order to sleep in her new Big Girl Bed. It didn't work. About 10:30 when she was whining for her binkie, Derek (who was on watch) suggested we give in and we did. (Or maybe I suggested it. I was 90% asleep and wanted to get back to 100%.) Oh well. I guess she will be packing her binkie for her 10th birthday slumber party.
