Reverently, Quietly...sort of

Yesterday in church a woman played a piano solo that was a medley of hymns and primary songs.  Derek pointed out to Libby that she knew some of the songs.  When she recognized "Reverently, Quietly," she burst into song along with the piano.  After she finished singing, and she realized no one else was singing she asked, "Dad, is this just a listening song?"

Pics of Ben

Right now Ben is driving me crazy because he is waking up to eat in the night more than he did as a newborn and then not wanting to eat during the day.  Grrr.  But I am determined to get him back on schedule this week by not feeding him in the night.  We will see how it goes.  He can now sit up a little on his own.  He can also go down for a nap and to bed at night on his own.  I just swaddle him up tightly so he can't pull out his binkie and he goes out.  He is absolutely adorable!
Sarah holding Ben, she gets a little nervous about it.

Ben holding his feet--one of his favorite things to do.  He LOVES having his diaper off because then he can even suck on his toes.  Yum!

Ben with Uncle Davey.  He enjoyed having his aunts and uncles around to play with him!

Ben's Stats

Not the best news in the stats department for Ben.  He is adorable, but went from the 50% in weight down to the 30%.  Time to start supplementing.  He actually got his first formula last night.  But, it could just be his cold and hopefully he will rebound a gain a bunch of weight.  The doctor wasn't worried.
weight:  13 lbs. 14 oz.  30%
Height:  24 3/4"          50%
Head Circ:  16 1/2"  50%

Girl Talk

Yesterday Sarah told me a few times--"Libby is being naughty to me!"
She also told me that she is a prince, because she has short hair.  I tried and tried to convince her that I have short hair and I am a girl, but Libby has done some serious brainwashing.  Sarah always has to be the prince in their games and Libby's explanation is that it is because she has short hair.

Libby announced yesterday that she doesn't want to go to college...because they don't have toys in college and she likes toys.  I am pretty sure she will change her mind about that :)

Libbyisms

Friday night I was getting the girls in bed.  I was so tired of them whining.  Libby asked if she could have some candy for the 10th time.  "NO!" I said, "not another word!  Now say your prayers."  She responded, "But you said 'Not another word!'"  Oh, she is getting too clever!

Port Townsend

What is it with family vacations and illness?  Why do those two things have to go together for our family?  Well, despite the hacking cough and stuffy noses, we had a great time with the Randall family at a condo in Port Townsend.  The cold was especially hard on Ben, so I was picking him up and feeding him frequently.  Picking him up from the pack and play and feeding him on the bed took a toll on me and I ended up with a super stiff neck.  I still can't look to the left without pain.  Hopefully one more visit to the chiropractor tomorrow and I will be okay.
Here are some pics of my favorite moments of the trip (more to come hopefully when my family shares their pics).
Sarah's birthday "cake".  A Rice Krispie castle.  She loved it!  The walls kept sagging, but it was super yummy!  She loved the Flynn Rider, Rapunzel, Snow White, and Prince Charming the best.

Ben sporting his Halloween gear from my awesome visiting teacher and socks from Aunt Leanne.

Ben spent many happy hours in the front pack including a walking tour of Port Townsend and this trip to the beach.

Sarah playing in the sand--the weather was AMAZING the whole time we were there.

Libby making a "sand angel".

The walking tour gave us entrance to the museum where the old jail is.  Here is Sarah in chains.

Burger Queen #1

Burger Queen #2

Ben had a particularly rough day when we went to the Olympic Game Farm.  On the drive home his aunts and uncles tried singing to keep him from crying.  It was quite effective for a few minutes at least.

It was so fun to have Uncle Nick with us for almost the whole time.  He is a blast.  Playing games with him is a hoot!  The girls loved riding on his shoulders.

The sunrise on the morning that I actually went for a run.  It was delightful!

The Randall Girls at the Nifty Fifty.  Super Yum!

Happy Birthday Sarah!

I took Libby to Toys R Us and let her pick a gift for Sarah.  She picked a Tiana Barbie (the princess from _Princess and the Frog_).  Sarah had been asking for one, so I thought it was a great gift.  We had a talk on the way home about keeping it a secret from Sarah.  When we got home Libby immediately blurted out that we bought Sarah a Tiana Barbie.  But, I wrapped it anyway.  I think it the two days since we bought it Libby has told Sarah the secret about 5 times.  I just got it out for Sarah to open.  Before Sarah opened it Libby said, "Sarah, it's a Tiana Barbie!"  Sarah said, "Oh!"  Sarah proceeded to open it.  She acted very happily surprised that is was a Tiana Barbie.  Then, after it was open Libby said, "Now can I tell her what it is?"  A bit too late for that I think.

Having fun

General Conference picnic

Libby as a Spider.  She didn't end up walking very far.
My girls amaze me sometimes with their creativity in play.

Outlaw Love

We just got back from an amazing wedding.  We stayed at the Mountain Springs Lodge to celebrate with Derek's "work wife" (aka partner) Leroy Outlaw and his beautiful bride Jonna.  It was a beautiful setting.  This is the view from our room.  If you are looking for a great place for a family reunion or wedding--wow.  This is a great place.  The food was super yummy too.  They roasted a pig on Friday night for the rehearsal dinner.  For the dinner after the wedding the cooked salmon over a fire outside.  So delicious. We danced the night away at the reception.  The girls found many dance partners!  Ben was an angel.  He slept through the wedding and the dinner.  Then I woke him to feed him and he danced with me and let others hold him so I could dance too.  It was really a great weekend.
View from the Wildflower room Saturday Morning

Ben getting his first bath in the real tub so he could get all handsome for the wedding.  I didn't ever get a pic of him all dressed up though since he was sleeping most of the wedding.  Libby helped out.

Libby fell in love with this bear outside the main lodge.

Me with the handsome man that I married.  I am so lucky!

Derek with Sarah (Martin the best man in the back ground)

Derek with both the girls just before the ceremony.  It was an outdoor ceremony in  an amazing little wooded area outside the lodge.

Libby with the bride.  Libby told Jonna that she has a dress just like hers :)

I couldn't find the girls, of course they were at the table with the bride and the groom.

Go Dawgs!

Well, the Aggies lost another heartbreaker.  This time to BYU.  But the Huskies won again!  And they beat the Utah Utes.  That felt great because we were the underdogs coming into the game.  (Plus it just feels good when the Utes lose ;)  Anyway, we have been going about decked out in our Husky gear and enjoying cheering on our team!

Potty Trained?

Last weekend I wrote that Sarah was wearing panties and we were making another attempt at potty training.  Well, it was going well, except that she still wouldn't poop in the potty.  I tolerated messes for 3 days, until Tuesday evening.  She cried when I was going to put a diaper on her for our Relief Society meeting.  I gave in and put panties back on.  Well--I have never cleaned up such a huge mess as I had to clean up in the church bathroom that night.  So, I had Derek buy some pull-ups the next day.  I still wanted her to be able to go potty when she wanted, but I didn't want to clean up any more poop disasters.  Then on Friday, she finally, finally pooped in the potty.  3 tiny pellets.  Derek got home just after she had gone and she announced, "Daddy, 3 tiny nuggets of poop came out of my bottom!"  How did it finally happen, you ask?  I realized she was her daddy's daughter and needed some reading material on the potty.  So I read her a book while she tried, and out it came!  She did more than a few nuggets later in the day.  On Saturday she kept her pull-up clean all day!  So, we bought her a celebratory Barbie (which Libby ended up playing with all evening.  Not sure how she talked Sarah into that deal.)
