The First Few Weeks of Summer...Derek Edition

Derek's been working a lot--front loading for when he's in season and can't work OT.  He worked a LONG day on the 4th, and a LONG day last Saturday.  Tomorrow I'm taking him on the Diablo Dam tour --a trip I gave him for his birthday!

He did a great job of holding down the fort while I was gone.  I'm very glad to be back with him.

This is the only picture I have of him in the last few weeks--from right before I left.  But it was a proud moment!

The First Few Weeks of Summer...Ben Edition

Ben had football camp, then got home and settled into a routine and decided he didn't want to go to Utah. So he stayed home to lift and go with Libby to work to hang out with Jed.  Now he's at FSY.  He's having fun, but says he won't mind that we're picking him up early for Tahoe.

4th of July (I think?) I know he spent it with these kiddos :)

I took him on errands before I left.  He pushed the cart and I ate the ice cream. Good role reversal from when he was little :)

Libby took the kids on a zoo day.

FSY drop off.  The UPS campus us amazing.  Right in the sketchy heart of Tacoma.  But it's seriously lovely.  Glad he's going there!

I'm glad we'll all be going to Tahoe together soon!

The First Few Weeks of Summer...Libby Edition

Libby is nannying this summer.  She's struggling to enjoy it as much as she did last summer.  I think it's mostly because she's constantly dehydrated and hungry, but also because it includes more driving than last year (and she's driving the van because her car is finally getting fixed--I think?)

So we're working on the hydration stuff.  But if you look at the camera roll, she's found plenty of time for fun and R&R too.  She's been using her wheel and learned to fire things in the kiln down there too. She's got some new glazes she's experimenting with. (She's also been teaching Amelia to throw on the wheel too.)

She also received a scholarship from the Seattle Police Guild and we got to go to the ceremony where they handed her a check :). Mom and Dad very happy about that check!

The First Few Weeks of Summer....Sarah Edition

Sarah has had a really busy and fun summer.  She got an internship at the Lake Wenatchee Camp Store/Shaved Ice place.  She had a great time.  We missed her a lot.  Derek got to drive up and take her some meds.  Libby drove up and spent an afternoon at the lake with her.

She made some good money to spend on her Scotland/Wales trip next summer.

Then I drove her to Utah for her Young Authors Academy.  This is her 2nd time (or 3rd?). She had a really great time.  Pics are in reverse order.

I'm just super proud of how grown up she is! So much "adulting" type stuff!

We were rushing at the checkin at BYU--so this is the only pic that day.

This is the yurt where she stayed at Lake Wenatchee.  She liked it enough she wants to go back next year :) She apparently took no other pictures of her time in Lake Wenatchee?

Also here's the new Pilot that will be her car once we have all 4 cars at home again.

The First Few Weeks of Summer...Trish Edition

So summer is flying by.

Since I haven't been blogging, here's a quick recap by person:

Trish: I've been writing a book!!!  It's an idea I have had for a few years.  It's like the Track Series by Jason Reynolds but of course about wrestlers.  If you want to be a reader let me know. I've never written this much before.  It's about 67 pages or around 30,000 words.  I've almost got the story finished.

My plan was to write for 25 minutes a day, but I got a bunch of extra writing in on my trips to San Fran (which cannot be called that apparently) and Utah.  I got to go to San Francisco.

Oh man, I loved this baby time!  And it was super fun to be with Dave and Maika as well.  I also got to hang out for a bit with a bunch of their friends.  Cool and interesting people who all said, "Oh, you're Libby's mom?"  Which felt fun.

On the same day I flew home, I also drove to Wenatchee to pick up Sarah.  (More on her 2 weeks there later...). We then drove to Utah (2 days--very long travel days) in our NEW HONDA PILOT.  Okay, not new new, but new to us new.  It's going to be Sarah's car...but it's super nice.  So I'd kinda like to take it from her.  But anyway, in Utah I dropped Sarah at BYU and spent the week with my parents and Devin & Davy.  Mostly fun was had by all--despite the heat.  I got to see a good friend from Seattle when I serendipitously asked if she'd edit my book and she happened to be staying with her mom around the corner from my parents house at her mom's house in Centerville too!  (And, it turns out she's a blog reader!!  Shoutout to Cat! And shoutout to her kids who were great at playing with Devin and Davy--who can be a challenge.). I got to spend time with my local Harris cousins (so fun playing Blank Slate with them).  We also did a VERY HOT Lagoon day! Thank goodness for Rattlesnake Rapids.

James is taller than I am!  Got Bryn's family height!

Bubble day!  (We stayed through Saturday and drove home Sunday so Sarah could have some Utah fun.)

Devin spent the whole time at the Bubble going on the diving boards.  Super brave!

We hit up a Trampoline Place

I got to spend a glorious evening with Emmi.  I drove up and met her in Smithfield.  While I waited for them to arrive from Yellowstone I went to Gossner's Cheese and ate a Factory Pizzeria (and worked on my book.)

We did T &D&D Taco Restaurant.  So fun.  The menu was hilarious and included a chance to give each server reviews.  I seriously laughed so hard.

Each day after the boys park classes (Devin and I walked during Davy's class and listened to Ghost) we had Auntie Squishmallow's sandwich shop.  It included the chance to create a face with your fruits and veggies.  They got pretty into it.

We also got Pace's ice cream to celebrate my job interview going pretty well...but then I didn't get the job at Einstein--so I admit I was grumpy for a day. Still stinging a bit.

But it was such a fun week.  I picked and ate a ton of rasperries.  I walked and chatted with my mom, dad and Arvae.  We went to a session at the beautiful Bountiful temple.  And with 2 long drives, I got lots of quality Sarah time.  We listened to Gone Girl (WHAT??!! Crazy good book--although definitely rated R) and the 2nd book in the Scythe series.  Super great.  So now I'm home for a few days to prepare for Lake Tahoe and the Randall 50th Anniversary Celebration!  Super excited.  I think I've almost got everything ready.

Also, haircut day--this is what I asked for---bottom picture is what I got. Much shorter.  But it'll grow.
