We got home from the Tahoe trip in time to celebrate Libby's birthday. She wanted Din Tai Fung, but we couldn't get a reservation. So we talked her into Spiros. A cheaper and closer option--and she's always asking for Spiros--so it was a win.
I bought her a dorm room med kit, I used AI to write a cute little rhyme to go on it (she loves writing all her things with AI--so I knew she'd appreciate it.) I included cold meds, tummy trouble meds, staph and ring worm meds, all the pain relievers. I included little directions on each bottle or tube. So hopefully she's all set for whatever strikes.
I also got her a 3 drawer thing (sage green) for her dorm, and a bunch of moving boxes. I customized the boxes with "Libby's Dorm," or "Iowa or Bust," on them. I taped them together and wrapped them. She wasn't that stoked. Haha. Especially since I guess she'd never heard the term Iowa or Bust. She didn't get it. It was pretty funny. I also got her sage green set of hangers. Also not excited about those. Haha.
Derek is going to get her a tattoo. He was super opposed at first, but they decided on one together and now he's all in. It's so expensive. That's what I struggle with most here. But I guess it's happening this next weekend while we're camping.
I accidentally sent her photobook to Brad. Shutterfly is the worst, as it always defaults to Brad's address. He said he'd send it, but it still hasn't come yet. I probably should have made Shutterfly resend it to me.
Anyway--this girl is 18. She's realizing adulting is pretty hard. While we were at Center Circle she fell asleep at work and got in trouble with her boss for not going to pick up one of the kids from practice. She also didn't take her meds even one time while we were gone. Oh boy. Does not bode well for college. But she's going. And she'll figure it out.
She found a frog outside in our driveway. Gave it a little kiss. It did not become a prince. |
