It was a good wrestling season for the Norton family. (And of course it is far from over for Coach Norton since the high school still has post-season tournaments and the middle school season starts this week. But my "coaching" is over, whew!)
All 3 kids started wrestling for the first time. We were talking about it last night. They are all pretty proud of various aspects of their wrestling career thus far. Ben liked it the least in some ways. But he had to wrestle a couple of really tough kids every day. Next year, when he (hopefully) isn't the smallest kid in the room, and when he has more experience than those who will be beginners next year, it'll be more fun.
As for Shorewood, they had a better than expected season. Actually that's not true. There were 3 guys (at least) who would have made this team truly amazing but didn't turn out for various reasons. But, once it became clear that they wouldn't be joining the team, this team did great work without them. Coach Norton and his assistants made some great strides this year too. Figuring life out without Coach Clark was an adjustment that they made pretty well.
