Libby Enjoys the Parade

We went to the Ballard Parade on Saturday to help celebrate Norwegian independence day. It is a Norton tradition. Here is a clip of Libby enjoying the motorcycle cops ;) It was fun to watch her watch this. She got very concerned for herself when she started crying.

It's A...

nother inconclusive ultrasound. We got a good crotch shot, but the umbilical cord made it difficult to be sure. She said that it appeared to be a GIRL but that it wasn't for sure. So, we will just proceed as if it MIGHT be a girl.

HUGE DAY!

As many of you know, we put off our decision to buy a house for a long time because we were waiting for the City of Seattle and Seattle Police to come to an agreement on a new contract. The old contract expired on Jan. 1, 2007, so we have been waiting for a long time. Finally, we felt we should just go ahead and look for a house. We found one, made the offer, got the process going, knowing that without a new contract, Derek would have to work quite a bit of OT to afford the house we wanted. Well, our little leap of faith paid off. While we were going through the process, a contract offer came through from the city. It was a great offer with a significant pay raise, although some officers didn't think it was enough. Derek was sweating that it wouldn't pass.

Yesterday, as were signing the papers for our house, the Seattle Police Guild announced that the new contract passed!

What a blessing! The new contract takes effect as soon as the city council ratifies it. We get the keys to our house on the 21st. We will move most everything on the 31st.

T,D & L Bakery...

For Christmas, Derek had a brilliant idea. He suggested that the Trish, Derek and Libby Bakery could make a different kind of bread for his family each month. During wrestling season this ended up mostly being the Trish Bakery...but now that the season is over, the past two months have been much more Derek and Trish. Libby jumped on the bandwagon today too! She got involved in the kneading process. At first she just thought the dough felt fun and strange. Eventually she started taking dives for the dough with her mouth--so after she left a tongue imprint--Derek decided her turn to knead was over. (Don't worry, we baked out all the Libby germs :)

Libby's First Ferry Ride

It has been so fun to have Aunt Rachel with us! We have relaxed and played here at home a lot. But, we did get out and take the ferry to Kingston. We saw a harbor seal and enjoyed the view.

Sicky Mommy...

Libby's cold had a resurgence this weekend while we were trotting around Seattle with Dave and Kate. Then I got one as well. Yuck! I am still exhausted and want to do justice to the amazing photos that Kate and Dave took of our adventures, so I will put up just one for now and make a slide show sometime this week. This is Libby getting her intro to musical instruments at the EMP (Experience Music Project). She was more interested in eating the drumstick than playing the drum, but she was having a really good time doing it.

Pedicures!

Kate and I had plans to get pedicures yesterday. Derek was all lined up to babysit until he got an extra shift that he couldn't pass up. So, Libby joined in the fun. Literally. It started when her sock fell in the water. Then I let her dip her toes in. Then I thought, what the heck, took off her pants and let her play in the water. Her legs were very soft after her soak, and I got soaked holding her.
