High 5

My brother Dave and his girlfriend Kate are here visiting Seattle. Kate taught Libby to High 5 yesterday. Libby is very into it!

Libby Eats a Lime

Libby stole the lime from Derek's plate at the Thaiger room yesterday. We thought she would taste it and then reject it. Instead, she sucked the thing dry! She made many great faces as she did it. Here are a couple.

Libby's 9 Month Check Up

Well, the stats are in.

Weight: 18 lbs. 6 oz. 45%
Height: 27'' 25% (a shorty, what a surprise!)
Head: 17 1/2'' 70% (clearly a smartie!)

She ate about 1/2 of the paper on the doctor's table. She is such a squirmy worm. Dr. Sutton-Wolf said it wouldn't be at all surprising if she walked early because she is ahead in her motor skills. That would be good for pregnant mommy :)

Libby Explores the Beach

Libby absolutely loved the beach. (She takes after her mom and grandma that way). She loved all the different things you can eat there. Especially sand. I have not been enjoying wiping sand off her bottom since then.

Helper Libby

I don't know what is more adorable in this video, Libby chasing the broom, or Derek's giggling about it.

Oh Man!

Check out this cool house! Libby is still sick though. Any suggestions for congestion out there? I bought a Vick's vaporizing night light thing for her room, and I got some homeopathic meds that are supposed to help. Saline and suction aren't getting deep enough, and I need sleep!!!!

Libby's Got A Cold :(

It is so sad, and she is so frustrated by the whole thing. It makes her clingy--but I can tell in the back of her mind she is thinking--I just want to feel better so I can be my normal independent self. I haven't taken any pictures, because I can barely put her down. She starts whining! Anyway, this too shall pass.

Primping?

I tried to do some sponge curlers in Libby's hair. It is almost long enough, but not quite. It was fun to see her with them in though. I had to let her suck on one to keep her still enough to get them in.

Libby Claps!

I have been working on teaching her to clap for weeks! ("If you're happy and you know it" is one of her favorite songs.) She still doesn't exactly clap on command, but she can do it!

House Update

Our inspection went well. It made me think differently about all the random places I have rented that probably needed SO much more work than the house we are getting...and they still found some little things. And one bigger thing (the fuse box) that needs to be done right away. We are going to probably close on May 15th! How exciting!

Ouch!

Today Libby scratched herself...and I mean scratched herself. Ouch! Those little nails are sharp.

Libby's 1st Pancake

Libby is on strike from being fed. So I am just giving her what we are eating as much as possible. She loved this pancake!

Libby's Other Boyfriend

In the childcare at Harbor Square there are some great employees. One of them is Emily. Her son Noah has a crush on Libby. Apparently yesterday another boy tried to touch Libby and Noah said, "Don't touch her, I am going to marry her someday." How cute. Anyway, I finally remembered to take my camera to get a picture. He is 4.

A HUGE WEEKEND!

Wow! So I knew this was going to be an intense weekend, but I had no idea how intense.
I had a BODYPUMP certification course that was Friday, Saturday, and Sunday--all day. Yikes. Tough stuff when I am not pregnant. But, I thought I would be ok...Then, a house we looked at on Thursday http://www.johnlscott.com/propertydetail.aspx?IS=1&ListingID=31480266
had another offer come in on it on Friday. We decided to make an offer too! So after an exhausting day of pumping my muscles, we sat down with our agent and crafted an offer. Her letter about why we should get the house literally brought tears to my eyes. She is so great (Christie Quigley of Edmonds). Anyway--we finished the offer at about 10:45 on Friday night. Derek still had to get up for work at 2:00 am and I still had a BODYPUMP combo to learn for Saturday morning. Anyway, it was a rough night.
Saturday I BODYPUMPED again all day. When I got home, Derek was exhausted! 2 days of being mommy to our beautiful Libby isn't as easy as it looks on this blog! But, we were excited when about 8:30 pm Christie called to let us know that they accepted our offer! We are so close to being home owners it is crazy! We have an inspection hopefully on Wednesday to make sure that all is as it should be. (If you check out the link above, you will see that the house is amazing, very neat and organized. The strange thing out front is a little holding pen for the garbage cans, which is indicative of everything in the house.)
Today I finished the BODYPUMP certification--the whole time in shock that we have nearly bought a house--and PASSED! Now all I have to do is learn the rest of the routines and video myself (making no more than 3 errors in the choreography) and send it off before I get too big to do it!
For more on BODYPUMP, check out this link...

Anyway, life will go somewhat back to normal again tomorrow. Hooray!

Getting Dressed

One of the most difficult parts of the day is getting Libby dressed. She even rolls around under the strap on the changing table. Anyway, I captured this fun footage of Derek putting on her pajamas. He had already finished with the diaper and the onsie, so this is just the finishing touches of her night prep. Yikes!
BTW, we are looking for a house right now and it is an insane thing to do! It is very consuming and has turned me into a slightly manic person.

Sleeping Like a Baby...

Well, as some of you know, I made the tearful decision on Sunday to let Libby cry it out during the night and stop feeding her. The key reason she was still eating during the night is that we share a bedroom (no door between the two rooms) and when she would make noise during the night I would feed her to get her to quiet down so we could sleep. On Sunday we moved our bed to the living room so that we wouldn't hear her. I did leave a monitor on so that I could see if she was crying.
At 10pm I dream fed her. Then I heard her cry briefly 3 times between 2 and 3 am...but she went right back to sleep. Then she didn't wake up to eat until 7 am. Fabulous!
Last night I didn't even hear her. I don't think she even cried, and I got 8 straight hours of sleep. Hooray! We are leaving our bed in the living room for a couple more nights.
We have been house hunting--fun stuff!
Soon she will have her own bedroom hopefully!

Libby, Stubborn?

Yep, we already knew she was. But lately she has been refusing to eat solids that I try to feed her. So today I just moved out of range and handed her the spoon. I would occasionally grab it and refill it, and eventually she started dropping it so I could refill it. It was a huge mess, but I guess we can officially say she fed herself with a spoon today.

I'm Ready to Get Up Mom!

I have been waiting to come in and find her standing in the crib, since she is pulling herself up on everything else. I didn't expect her to cry about it though. But, like a good blogger, I ran for the camera and took a picture before I rescued her. She is actually figuring out how to sit down from where she stands up on the bookshelves, but that didn't transfer to the crib somehow.

Go Mariners!

It was opening day yesterday, and Libby was in the spirit! We had an opening day party with Reid, Mad, and their respective parents. It was a blast. We did more eating than watching.
