Straight Hair Libby

Every now and then I get the urge to straighten Libby's hair. It looked amazing. She looked like totally different girl. So grown up somehow. You can tell she even felt different by the way she was willing to pose for some pictures.

Zoo Outing

We went to the Woodland Park Zoo yesterday. It is so amazing! We were up close with elephants, penguins, giraffes, and meerkats. We also saw lions, bears, tigers, and others that were lazing farther off in the sun. Libby and Sarah LOVED the fish swimming in the bear exhibit. They also enjoyed riding the carousel and sitting on the animal statues.

Two Thumbs WAY UP!

We took Libby and Sarah to see Toy Story 3 yesterday. I knew it was a bit of a gamble, Sarah is still pretty young, and Libby is crazy active...but it went great! (We didn't do 3D, I knew they would never keep the glasses on.) It was Sarah's first movie in a theater, and Libby's 2nd. They watched the whole thing. And, IT WAS AWESOME! If you haven't seen it yet, GO!

It's a Bird...

No, it's a plane! And two girls standing up on the table (where they aren't supposed to be) in order to see it. But it is so cute to see Libby teaching Sarah--"Look Sarah, it's an airplane!"

Welcome Grandma and Grandpa

We put them to work right away :) Listening to my parents read to my daughters is so fun! Last night when Grandma read _Pinkalicious_ to Sarah I was AMAZED! Sarah quoted about 1/2 of it. Thanks to our cousin Mariah (through her mom Keri) for recommending that great book!

Pot Heads

Okay, I guess I will have to come to terms with this. My daughters are pot heads :)

Libbyisms

Yesteday when we were at Bartells I sent Libby to find Sarah. I could tell that she found her when I heard...
"Sarah, what are you doing! What have I told you about doing that!"

I was so happy to hear this next one.

She sat down next to Sarah and said, "Sarah, can I read this book to you? (_Follow ME!) Okay,"...then she "read" the first page from memory. Then she read the 3rd page. Then she looked at me, pointed to the 2nd page and said, "What does that say?"
I can't wait to have Libby doing some of the reading!

Sarahisms

Sarah is starting to talk so much. Her enunciation still leaves a little to be desired, but once I make out what she is saying, she makes me laugh!

Last night she was walking around saying: "I'm poopy! I stink!"

While watching the Lakers whoop the Celtics the other night: "You are KIDDING ME!" (She was copying me on that one.)

She also loves to repeat parts of her favorite books...from _Follow ME_..."We're almost there, a zag a zip"

Today when we were leaving the gym she said bye to all the ladies by name, then said, "Have a nice day!"

Ode to Naps

I have been one lucky mommy. For at least a year Libby and Sarah both slept from 8 pm to 8 am. Then they both took naps from noon to 2. Alas, my luck has run out. Libby's sleep needs have changed drastically over the last few months. I have been forced to face the reality. My two hour lunch break without children is over. If Libby takes a nap (which she still will some days) then she stays up until 10 or 11 or later. Then of course, she needs a nap the next day and the cycle keeps on going. So, I am resolved. No naps for Libby. Then she drops into bed at 7:30 or 8. I have decided that getting to bed at a reasonable hour is much better than having her nap. A couple of days this week she begged for a nap between 4 and 5 in the afternoon. But I used a movie to hold her off and she went to bed by 8. Whew! Thank goodness Sarah is still napping (knock on wood).

LET ME DO IT!

Sarah's current favorite phrase! She is becoming very independent. It is great, and hard at the same time. Her motor skills haven't quite caught up with her desires for independence.

Those Girls!

Libby and Sarah continue to delight me with their cute, fun personalities. Yesterday we went to the mall for some "grown up girl bonding time". We tried on bras at Victoria's Secret (and let me tell you, it is impossible to go up 2 cup sizes from a size 0-- sadly I am referring to me, not to them). We got our make-up done at the MAC counter (the girls love the sparkly lip gloss that tastes like cupcakes). And then we played at the play area and ate Mrs. Field's mini-cookies. Libby ate about 8. I couldn't believe it. Libby delighted and frightened the other parents by climbing onto the toys and then JUMPING and VAULTING herself off of them. She would sometimes throw her arms open wide and sing before jumping. It was hilarious. It was a great end to a week where I had a cold and still managed to teach 12 classes (meaning I didn't do ANYTHING else).
Here are some pics from the week.

Sarah was eating her breakfast with her head resting in her hand. It was so cute I had to take a picture. Then she kept wanting me to take pictures. I got about 15 of her posing and eating breakfast. So fun!
Libby has started wearing my shoes around on occasion. It is so funny to see her clomping around. She absolutely REFUSES to go outside without shoes. She FREAKS out if she is on the grass and a shoe accidentally falls off. I have come running thinking that someone was dying--only to find that her shoe has come off. I guess I deserve this. I also prefer to wear shoes--all the time. I also made it a punishment to walk barefoot from the car to the house when she took off her shoes in the car--so she is conditioned to think it is bad to be barefoot outside I guess. Oh well. At least she leaves her shoes on in the car most of the time now.

Our First Harvest!

Despite the cold yucky summer we have been enjoying (or not enjoying :( we have a bumper crop of radishes. The only problem, I am the only one around here who will eat them. Yikes!

Creating Life-Changing Fitness Expriences

Here I am with Mark Nu'u. He is the head bodystepper/choreographer, and has been for the past 17 years. Amazing. The training was fabulous. I learned so much to improve my technique and teaching. I am exhausted!

A Day of Injuries

This morning at the childcare another kid bit Sarah on the cheek. Major bruise!
Then Libby fell off an ottoman while she was reading the book I made for Derek. A drawer below her was open (the book was on the kitchen counter--she was standing on the ottoman. This is such a regular thing I didn't realize at first that it would sound strange that she fell off an ottoman...) and she scratched up her knee.
Then Derek and Libby crashed heads while they were playing.
While I was comforting Libby I carried her past the dresser, got too close, and she has a big scratch on her arm too.
Wow. It is definitely bedtime. Now if I could only convince Libby....
