Christmas Traditions

One of my favorite traditions is making gingerbread houses with the family. Here are the amazing results. We aren't purists, by the way. We use graham crackers and hot glue for the base. But the rest is pure sugar!

Okay, I am officially stealing this idea! I made a gingerbread house with the kids last year from a kit and it was more fun in theory than in practice - no creativity. This looks soooo fun. Glad you could go home for the holidays!!

We add clear karo syrup to our powdered sugar and shortening. It makes the grahm crackers set up really well. We then use ordinary powdered sugar frosting to decorate with.
